Aside from being an art enthusiast, Karen Kelly is one of our talented resident artists. Karen enjoys a broad range of mediums such as art quilting, clay work, pine needle basket creations, as well as watercolor painting. Although she has not have a formal education in art, Karen’s creative nature is evident in everything she creates. After retiring from a nursing career, Karen was afforded the opportunity to pursue her many artistic endeavors and fully delving into watercolor painting.
Karen has been painting with watercolors for seven years. She has had the opportunity to be mentored by many accomplished artists including her friend, Dawn Gerardot and her sister-in-law, Karen Earle. They formed a group called Art Partners III and paint together often. While their styles vary, their love of art is equally strong among them.
Karen’s style tends to embrace the use of color and she likes to experiment with a variety of techniques to test their usefulness and effects on the outcome of a piece of work. Often the terms used to describe her work are “loose “ and “edgy”. She enjoys painting her own version of the world around with color while also integrating metallic elements and embellishments.
Please join Karen in this learning experience and begin to develop your own unique style. Walk away with the gratification of being able to successfully complete a painting and know you did it!
