Join Robin Fredy for a 6 class collage series.
2 HR Class
There are as many different ways to create a collage as there are artists who inspire to make them. During this
series of 2 hour hands-on studio instruction you will learn different ways to make collages and be able to create
your own. This is a fun, varied and open ended exploration of materials, techniques and how to harness your
own ideas using collage as the medium.
Collage uses all sorts of paper, and found materials , but you don’t have to buy a long list of supplies.
Before class begins, collect things around your house that is interesting to you to use in a collage. These things
can include magazines, newspaper, , ticket stubs, lace, ribbon, picture books, greeting cards, string, aluminum
foil, photographs, cardboard of all thicknesses, old paintings on canvas, or other flat mediums. Once you start to
look at materials with an eye to reusing it in your art, start your collection.
ART MATERIALS
The most important art supply to use with collage is glue. We will explore various types of glue and what they
work best for. You will discover which ones you like best, and go from there.
For the first class Please bring:
As many magazines, old brochures, etc. that we can gather
A big gluestick. They are available at Michael’s. Not the small lipstick sized kind. but a big fat gluestick.
AFTER THE FIRST LESSONS YOU WILL ALSO NEED:
Modge podge. I really prefer the matte as opposed to the gloss kind.
Bristol board paper pad of a size you are comfortable with this is what
a decent pair of scissors. I will show the kind I like and explain why.
Your collection of found papers and objects.
A small collection of different sizes of flat brushes. DO NOT spend alot of money on these,
as they get ruined easily.
Your choice of “embellishment “ tools- markers, paint markers, colored pencils, ect. This collection growsas you find a need for them as time goes by.
tracing paper, soft pencil and or carbon paper.
