Art Class: Calligraphy

Description

Calligraphy is known as ‘the art of giving form to letters in an expressive, harmonious, and skillful manner’. During our three-part class you will learn how to properly grip your pen, the different types of strokes, how to refine your letters, and how to make words on paper a ‘work of art’.

The Cursive calligraphy alphabet can be used for a variety of future projects, including addressing envelopes, penning favorite quotes or scripture, creating posters for group activities, or simply for your personal enrichment. You will also be given homework each week, which we will constructively critique during our following session.

RSVP by October 4th

Class is $75. Supplies cost $15, or you can come with a cartridge pen with a metal flat edge nib, such as a Pilot Parallel pen. I also recommend the basic Chancery instruction book for reference. (I prefer the Speedball textbook, but you can bring whatever you have, I will also have a selection of books)
